Section Programmers
Kinga Binkowska
Before joining the VFF, Kinga Binkowska helped establish the Queen of the Square, an arthouse cinema in Stratford, Ontario, where she served as programming director. Binkowska has been part of the programming team at the Zurich Film Festival since 2012. She holds an MFA in Media and Film Production from École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris and MFA in Media & American Studies from the University of Lodz.
Jo Duncombe
Jo Duncombe is a film programmer manager at the British Council, specializing in European film festivals and short films. She is also a curator for Birds Eye View Films, a national project which aims to grow audiences for films by women. Previously she was a film programmer at the Independent Cinema Office, where she worked strategically to develop the future of independent cinemas across the UK through innovative programming. Before joining the ICO, Duncombe was the program director of the London Short Film Festival.
Alex Rogalski
Alex Rogalski is the senior Canadian programmer for Hot Docs. Past programming work includes the Toronto International Film Festival, Calgary International Film Festival, Gimme Some Truth, and the Human Rights Watch Film Festival. He is the former Executive Director of PAVED Arts and New Media, and currently a Program Consult with SK Arts in Saskatoon.
Lincoln Z. Shlensky
Lincoln Z. Shlensky, is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Victoria. He researches, teaches and supervises graduate students in the areas of postcolonial literature, Jewish and diasporic studies, and film studies.
Dan Russek
Dan Russek is Associate Professor in the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies at the University of Victoria. He is the President of the Hispanic Film Society of Victoria and coordinates the Annual Latin American and Spanish Film Week at Cinecenta, now in its 11th year.
Arnold Lim
Victoria-based Korean-Canadian filmmaker Arnold Lim has directed and/or produced more than a dozen shorts, most recently winning Telefilm’s Talent to Watch twice. In addition to filmmaking, Lim has been feature film programmer at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival, an Asian Feature Programmer, a short film juror, and a screening committee member for film festivals since 2013.
